Frequently Asked Questions!
Falling Pine Bulldogges' FAQ. Don't see your questions here? Feel free to contact us, We are happy to answer any questions!
When can I take my puppy home?
Puppies go to their new homes at 8 weeks old, no sooner. While you may be able to choose your puppy earlier, they must remain with us until 8 weeks of age to ensure proper development, socialization and vet care.
Are deposits refundable?
No, all deposits are non-refundable. unless we cancel the sale on our end. if for any reason we cancel the sale, your deposit will be fully refunded. Deposits secure your spot or puppy and help us avoid time-wasters, so we can focus on committed families. If your timing changes, we're happy to transfer your deposit onto a future litter/puppy.
How does it work when it comes to picking a puppy?
Families who place a deposit are added to our wait list in the order received. Once puppies are born and approach 4-5 weeks old, we start the selection process, with the picks happening in order of the list. People on the wait list receive more updates/pics while We help guide each match based on temperament and suitability. some families are only interested in a specific color or gender and want to pick sooner than later and that's completely okay!, if your preferences aren't available in a litter, you can wait for a future litter without losing your place in line. Puppies can't go home until 8 weeks of age but early selection helps everybody prepare before go-home day. Once wait list picks are complete, any unreserved puppies will be posted as available on our website.
How are the puppies raised?
Our puppies are raised right in our living room, from birth until they go to their new homes. As they grow, their pen space expands and routines are introduced, and they're exposed to every day life, including a toddler, cats and dogs from small to XL. they are handled daily which builds confidence and trust. We begin pee pad training from birth to 3-4 weeks, then transition to litter box training (we use pine pellets on a deep boot tray) to encourage clean habits early on.
Puppies are started on soft, mush food at 3 weeks old, by 6 weeks, they are eating hard kibble and are introduced to a crate and receive weekly nail trims, weight checks and photo updates. We always do everything non-forcefully to ensure each puppy has a positive experience with handling and care. what does that mean? it means that our puppies are properly introduced to a crate and not just forced in it. and that nail trims are made to be a positive experience. Our goal is to raise well-adjusted, confident and happy puppies ready to thrive in their new home.
Why do I have to wait until my dog is 1 years old to be desexed?
We require that our puppies are not spayed or neutered until at least 12 months of age to allow for proper physical and hormonal development, especially in larger, muscular olde english bulldogges. Early Desexing can disrupt your dog's natural growth leading to joint, ligament or bone issues later in life, increase the risk of certain cancers and poor muscle development in bully-type breeds. Waiting allows your dog's body to mature properly including their bones, joints and muscle tone and gives them the best chance at a long, healthy life. Neutering/Spaying before your dog hits their hormonal maturity will not, i repeat WILL NOT prevent behavior issues. in fact, unwanted behaviors are better addressed through training, socialization and structure, not early sterilization.
Are puppy classes a must?
While not mandatory, Puppy classes are highly recommended and early socialization are incredibly important. Puppies go through a critical socialization window between 3 and 16 weeks of age. during time this, they are learning how to respond to new people, animals, sounds and situations. What they experience now shapes how they behave for the rest of their lives. Once a dog is mature, You can't go back and re-do this stage. Missed socialization often leads to fearfulness, reactivity or poor manners later on. Puppy classes are a much safer than dog parks, while dog parks may sound like a fun idea, they can be dangerous for young puppies, one bad experience or attack can leave a puppy traumatized for life. Classes provide controlled exposure and help build confidence, trust and obedience, all while strengthening your bond with your dog. and while we know that puppy classes won't create a perfect dog, they're a powerful tool that sets your puppy up for a more balanced and successful future.
Can I meet the puppies in person?
Yes, But it depends on several important factors. In person visits are more likely once the puppies have had their first vaccines, and after wait list families have made their selections. We also consider whether a visitor has recently been to other breeders or kennels. Diseases like parvo and distemper are extremely serious and can be tracked in on shoes, clothes or even hands. putting the entire litter at risk. Because of this, we limit visits to protest our puppies during their most vulnerable stage. We are happy to provide regular photos, videos and updates until it's safe to meet your chosen pup in person.
What do you feed your dogs?
Our dogs are fed Hi-Pro Kennel Blend, Chicken & Turkey Formula, All Stages.
While we understand that kibble isn't everybody's choice, We don't feed just any brand. We've chosen a formula that's reliable. nutritious, and keeps our dogs looking great.
For bone's we've tried all sorts over the years and our favorites are nylon bones.
For treats, veggies and fruits are a big hit with our dogs but we also love dehydrated or freeze-dried treats. It's ideal to choose small, soft treats for puppies when training so it's easier for them to chew.
What does lifetime breeder support mean?
Lifetime breeder support means we are here for you and your dog, not just when you pick up your puppy but for the rest of their life. Weather you need help with training, nutrition, health, questions about gear/tools, behavior issues, or just want to share updates, you can always reach out! We genuinely care where our puppies end up and how they are doing long term. and if life ever changes and you can no longer keep your dog, We will always take them back, No questions asked. that's part of our commitment to our puppies and their families, we never want to see one of our dogs in a shelter, rescue or homeless.
Do you offer shipping or delivery?
For families who can't pick up in person, we highly recommend PETJET out of Leduc, a trusted pet transport company that offers safe and professional flight nanny services from air, cargo or ground. We have used them several times and are always satisfied. Shipping is at the buyer's expense, and we're happy to help coordinate timing and communication with PetJet to make the process smooth.
Do you sell breeding rights?
No, We do not offer breeding rights. At Falling Pine Bulldogges, Our mission is to protect and improve the breed, not contribute to irresponsible breeding. We place our puppies in pet homes on spay/neuter contracts because we believe in doing things the right way, with health, structure and the breed standard in mind. Unfortunately, many of the inquiries we receive about breeding rights raise red flags, such as plans to breed dogs before age 2. intentions to breed back to back because somebody said it's healthier. or making plans to breed puppies before they have grown enough to show proper structure or temperament. One thing about breeding is understanding that every puppy is not breeding quality and to recognize when one may not be suitable. Breeding should be about improving, not just producing. it takes time, knowledge, investment, and a deep understanding of the breed, not shortcuts.
Do you find retirement homes for your adult dogs?
Yes, when we retire one of our adult dogs, we carefully place them in loving, approved homes. in many cases, they're placed with families who already have one of our puppies, which gives us extra piece of mind knowing the home is familiar and trusted. all retired dogs are placed spayed or neutered and updated on vaccines, microchipped and with their registration papers.
